New Sketches

So I went to the Atomic Comics Locals Only Bizarre Bazaar today and had a great time hanging out with the crew from Spazdog Press as usual. I spent most of time sketching out some new pictures of super heroines and I liked the results so I figured I would share them with you. Chaz from Atomic Comics has a sketch book devoted to Zombie Super heroes and he requested a Zombie Power Girl (he is a big Pee Gee fan like myself ). So I worked on that as well as a "whole" Power Girl because I felt bad making her an ugly Zombie. I also did a sketch of what is supposed to be Saturn Girl, but because I'm not a huge follower of all things DC I got her costume completely wrong. Oh well, she is now just a generic super heroine with big boobs... (once again these images are all out of order and I have no idea why blogspot does this, so sorry...)

I will also announce a new event that I will be attending Samurai Comics Declare Your Independents next Saturday, July 3rd, so come on down and join in the fun. I really doubt you want to be sitting outside in 110 degree weather anyways.

Next Event is this Saturday at Atomic Comic's Mesa store. It's the Locals Only Bizarre Baazar. Come on done and join us at the show! We will be giving out copies of Sonic Youth #2 and doing drawings for whoever wants them. Here is a section from a new project I'm working on for the Marvel Version 2.0 website. This is my newest work(it is now inked as well) besides some doodles I've done here and there at work. It's a world world 2 story and this is an image of an officer approaching a circular door with some strange nordic engravings on it... Enjoy and I will have more to view on here soon!

1st Digital Painting

So I've done digital Painting in the past but to be honest with you, I had no idea what I was doing. I have since had the pleasure of reading Brian & Kristy Miller's HI-FI Color for Comics and the results are amazing in my opinion. It does everything I could do with paint and canvas but it also adds so many tips on how to create the special effects I could never figure out how to do in a traditional medium. They've since put a new book with even more info but I think I'm going to try and at least get efficient by using this book before tackling the more advance techniques.

New Finished Projects

I've finished Sonic Youth #2 and now it is just waiting to be lettered and printed! Here is the cover inks for issue 2 and also a side project I've been working on with Jonathan Biermann for the MARVEL Version 2.0 website. It's a cover for a Captain America fan story that will be posted on the website June 14th.

New art and other random stuff!

The Phoenix Comicon was an absolute blast and a great learning experience for the future conventions I will be attending, which will be the Tucson Comicon in November! I've got a lot of work to do so I can have a better showing this time around. I attended my 1st Tiny Army meeting today (Tiny Army is a group of artists/illustrators/ designers from AZ) and got to listen in on some great advice on how to present yourself, booth and artwork at a show. Many thanks to Daniel Davis and the rest of the group for sharing!

Here are a couple of the new panels from the next issue of Sonic Youth for Spazdog Press to a sneak peek of and the issue should be out by our next appearance at Atomic Comics June 26th. More to come on that soon!
